Honest Foods strive to achieve the highest standards in modern European cooking with our team of chefs who have all trained in top London restaurants and hotels.
Our year is made up of regular corporate clients’ events, the summer is busy with weddings, christenings and garden parties and the end of the year is our busiest, as we begin catering for the Christmas season including some special events on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
No event is too small or large for our experienced team. Sometimes it entails setting up kitchens within marquis for private events or bringing along mobile kitchens to awkward venues.
Head Chef and founder, Leon Rothera started his career working for Douglas Jordan at the ‘Blackgate Restaurant’ in Newcastle. Head Chef and proprietor Jordan took him under his wing and taught him a respect for good ‘honest’ cooking he’d never forget before sending him on his way to London at 17 to train under Paul Gayler at ‘The Lanesborough Hotel’, which at the time boasted the highest graded hotel restaurant in Europe (The Conservatory). After some hard and career molding years there he moved on to work for Herbert Berger at the Michelin Starred ‘No.1 Lombard Street’.
He did a few stints helping to open some other restaurants in London before deciding to start Honest Foods in 2002 by doing small dinner parties in peoples homes. This quickly lead to bigger private and corporate events such as weddings, corporate functions and even became popular catering for some celebrities such as Peter Jones (The Dragons Den), Paul Weiland, Ruby Wax, Harry Enfield, Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter.
Honest Foods are now a well established catering company but never lose touch of their ethos which is to cook great ‘Honest Food’.
